Happy 21st Jo Campbell

This site is a birthday tribute to Johanna Louise Campbell, who was born on August 14th, 1985. This sometimes shy little girl has grown into a beautiful, brainy and fun young woman. But we're probably biased, because we're her parents. We've created this blog as a 21st century birthday card, to give as many friends as possible the opportunity to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY JO. Please contribute as many Jo-stories and recollections as you can. Thanks, Phil and Louise Campbell

Leave Your Jo Campbell Stories and Comments Here

We think Jo's terrific. But what would we know? We're her parents! Over the next few days, we'll post more photos and even one or two video clips to show you a little of what it was like spending the last 21 years with Jo. Meanwhile, we'd love you to add comments to this post with as many Jo recollections as you can - or even with some kind words to let her know you love her.

    An Ode to Jo's Desserts

Chocolate sauce, oh ice-cream, I simply cherished thee
You made my journey home all the more worthwhile
Violet Crumble, oh M&M's, how you made me smile
Knowing you'd be there waiting for me!

Your yummy goodness, Oh how you fed my sweet tooth
A dentist to be, irony? you'll get your just desserts!
The tales of such will carry down the generations
how thee will remain forever infamous!

Congratulations Jo you’re officially in your twenties. I don’t know about you but it seems that time just flies by. I remember when I first met you back when we were both starting high school. It’s crazy to think that we’ve known each other for eight years and we’re both adults!!

If someone asked me the thing that stood out about you the most to me it would have to be your big smile and sense of humour ! It seems that no matter where you are or how your week has been, you can light up the room with your big encouraging smile. I know for me your energy and your big grin has certainly been able to brighten up my day and remember that life is good. Thanks for been such a great friend, and I feel so privileged that I know you and that we have been able to become closer in the last couple of years, especially since we spent the first year not talking to each other much.

I hope that your next decade is more rewarding than the last and that you’ll continue to be the great encourager that you are. HAPPY 21st BIRTHDAY jo jo!!!
    Love
    Em

21 years old!! Who would have thought someone so mature could only be 21. Then we saw her extreme rolling and it all became obvious.... 21.... ahhhhh yes.

    Our memories of Jo.

    1. Sitting on the beach on a beautiful summers day enjoying the warmth. We casually glance around and see a mass of towels with two eyes poking out from behind some thick sunglasses. Who is this mystery person... yes it's Jo saying "I like my pale skin."

    2. Enjoying a relaxing holiday drive around Malaney in Jo's car. We pass some beautiful rainforests with a cool moist breeze on our face and all of a sudden Jo decides to coast in "angel gear" (neutral) down the steepest part of the hill. Jo was screaming in delight while the Pfeffer's screamed in pure terror!!

    3. Jo is a unique person. What do most people do when a movie (Superman) is boring? Yes they either leave or grin and bare it. What does Jo do? Lets just say she is only person we have ever seen leave the cinemas with bed hair!!

    4. Another of Jo's fasinating quirks is watching her play netball. We had the pleasure of playing many a games in which Jo continually yawned whilst playing center in a rather challenging game. She contiually amazed us with the sheer number of yawns she could produce in one game! However it must be a family trait because Maddie has now taken over competing for the record of most yawns in one game.

    5. Holidaying with Jo can prove to be quite a challenge due to the hours she keeps. It was important to get Jo home at a reasonable hour (6.30pm) before she crashed for the night. We shared many a movies with Jo asleep and the Pfeffer's talking to Jo for a good hour before realising she was unconscious. In the morning,by the time the Pfeffer's stirred Jo has been up and active for many hours. Hence Jo and the Pfeffer's only have a few solid hours to share together.

    6. Getting back to the extreme rolling.... this is by far Jo's greatest achievement to date! It really shows her adrenaline junkie side, persistence and commitment to a task. Many have tried and failed (hey Amy and Donna). If anyone is interested in a viewing of Jo's extreme rolling talents or is interested in a lesson from the pro please feel free to contact her manager Maddie Campbell.

On a serious note Jo is an amazing friend who has a gift of finding a balance between silliness and seriousness. She is truly someone you can depend on. It's been a pleasure knowing her and we both look forward to the many years of friendship and cheap dental care ahead.

    We love you heaps

    Melissa and Jill Pfeffer

    Hi De Ho Neighbour!

Wow 21, what do I say? I suppose I will start by giving some words of wisdom the main lessons I have learnt since my 21st are, take every thing as it comes, you never know what is around the next corner, enjoy every moment (everything is important, even bad the stuff) and remember to smile everyday, it keeps you sane. Oh the other piece of advise is DON'T drink too much at street Christmas parties the neighbours might never let you live it down. Now that my wisdom has been passed on, wow I don't have that much wisdom do I? I would like to wish you the BEST 21 ever. May this year bring good friends, laughter and just a little mischief. Cheers Jo, love and wishes Kate

    Hello big little sister.

I guess, somewhat uniquely I can give an account of the entire last 21 years. That would take altogether too long. And I'd probably end up rambling through your list of many qualities and achievements.

I'm a very proud big brother, but that's been a pretty easy job. Whether it's shared laughter at something slightly left field, or spending quality time with the family, it has always been a pleasure being your older brother. Even when I was chasing you around the dining room table in Maclean.

In the scheme of things I'm glad you've spent your life following (and exceeding) my footsteps rather than the other way round.

    I love you lots Jo.

    Happy Birthday Jo!!

It's been wonderful getting to know you over the last year and a half, and discovering the unquiely crazy sense of humour and adventure that only you could pull off.

Congratulations on reaching 21, and I pray that you'll continue for the next 21 (and beyond!) serving God and striving to do his will.

    Much love,
    Donna

    Happy Birthday Jo!

I never know any stories about anyone, don't know why, maybe I don't have much of a memory.. And neither can I be creatively serious either.. so, here you go, Swedish happy birthday song for you:

    There you go!

    Happy Birthday Jo!

Congratulations on your 21st! Hope you have a great party (I will see you there soon anyway :-P) and a blessed year ahead. In the spirit of Romans, my prayer is that you continue to grow in faith, being fervent in serving the Lord in all you do.

"...for those who love God all things work together for good, for those called according to His purpose."

    All the best, in Christ
    Matthew

    Hey Jo,
Happy 21st! I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed your party and I'm sorry that I couldn't be there. Much can be said for your wonderful hospitality - who else would open their door to a random stranger late at night? Hopefully I'll get to drop in again soon! :)

    Dear Jo,
Wish we could be with you to celebrate your 21st. Glad that we got to be with you in April. I have many fond memories of you growing up. I remember coming to visit you the night you were born and there you were - rolled up like a little ball on Louise, your head covered with little curls. You both looked so dear and I remember feeling deep emotion that our mum, your Gran, was not with us to celebrate your birth. When I told this to Louise, she teared up and said that she'd been feeling the same. Lots of memories of chocolate chips and milkshakes made with real milk when Aunty Ruth came to visit, swims, you all being sick when your mum and dad went to Sydney for a few days, reading stories, going for walks, finding stories to send you, everyone stopping you to exclaim again about your beautiful hair (a bit tiresome sometimes!) and me taking great delight in people often thinking you were my daughter when we were out together.
We loved you coming to visit us three years ago and hope you'll fly across the ocean many more times to be with us in Canada. When I came to Canada all those years ago, the hardest thing of all was to leave you and your family and to miss out on occasions like your 21st. Rod and Mary would also have liked to be there.
    All my love,
    Aunty Ruth
